Notes by Roger Hearn

Living in Sri Lanka. I have finished teaching after 37 years. After 15 years teaching in the U.K, at Public and Preparatory Schools, I began to work abroad and have had experience of working in Sri Lanka, Abu Dhabi, Turkey, South Korea and Thailand. In Sri Lanka I was Headmaster of an International School for 160 boys for six years, after which it was forced to close because of the political troubles. I finally completed six years at a university in Saudi Arabia, as associate Professor of English, assisting Prince Mohammed's Royal Commission in the Eastern Province.

Although I have ceased to perform on the field for Cheam C.C. and the HAC, I have maintained my cricketing connections, remaining a member of MCC, Surrey CCC, Middlesex CCC and Sussex CCC, as well as my old wandering clubs, including the Frogs, Cryptics, Stragglers of Asia, Romany, Forty Club, Bluemantles, Jesters, Jack Frost and the Heartaches.

I shall be delighted to hear from kindred spirits with a view to a possible reunion amongst the hostelries, fleshpots, theatres and cricket grounds of the Metropolis, Surrey or elsewhere during my sporadic visits to the U.K.!

Plans for the future are: Writing memoirs and plays, running an educational agency and acting as a consultant on education for the Sri Lankan government, as well as providing Sri Lankan workers for employment all over the world, but particularly to Britain and Saudi Arabia.

Interests: Cricket, rugby, psychology, imbibing, writing.

Music: Brahms & Liszt, Elton John, Scott Hamilton, Eric Clapton, Beethoven, Temperance Seven.

Sports: Cricket, rugby, soccer, golf, horse racing, camel racing and indoor games with carefully selected company.

Words: If I had known I was going to live this long, I'd have looked after myself a little better!
