School Song
The School Song which we had to learn and sing each Speech Night was in Latin. It was the winning entry in a competition in 1952 for a new school song in which it won a £25 prize. The words were by J H Staniforth and the music by Douglas Mew.

Ave, Cara Mater

|
Ave, cara juventutis
Mater et nutricula!
Ave, patriae virtutis
Prima incunabula!
Ave, morum modestorum,
Strenuorum et sanctorum
Domus illustrissima!
Quae ad vitam juveniles
Sapienter praeparas
Animos, et tot viriles
Cives sic progeneras,
Tibi reddimus honorem,
Et precamur Creatorem
Sine fine floreas!
